Carmen Aleman is a visual artist and an educator. She completed a BA (Hons) in Design for Communication Media in Photography at Manchester Metropolitan University & MA in Photography at the London College of Communication.

Carmen has worked in different sectors of photography (commercial, education and visual arts). At present she divides her time between working as a photography lecturer at the University of East London and the London College of Fashion (University of the Arts) and working on her own personal projects.

Her work ranges from photography to video art and installation, naturally evolving from the studio into the community and public arena.
Carmen has worked on several community projects and arts residencies, including running photography workshops with 'survivors of domestic violence' in association with 'Hate Crimes'; working as a facilitator, with able and disable young people, in video and photography residential summer art programs (Phab) at Westminster School and working on photo projects with young muslim women at Melchor de Jovellanos School in Morocco. She also created, organized and curated a community street art-project 'Create Peace', in South London. She continues to collaborate in the community.

In summer 2012, Carmen took on a residential placement at the Academy of Architecture and the Visual Arts (AAVA) at Linton University College, Legenda Education Group, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Carmen has exhibited her work a number of times, both in U.K. and Spain.
